The State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Tamil Nadu, functions under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India. It is entrusted with evaluating, appraising, and granting environmental clearances for development projects in the state.

Through transparent governance and scientific assessment, SEIAA Tamil Nadu ensures that industrial and infrastructural growth aligns with ecological balance and sustainability.

About SEIAA

State Level Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA-TN) is constituted under EIA Notification, 2006 as amended by MoEF&CC to grant Environmental Clearance to mitigate pollution and protect the environment, which is an essential pre-requisite in the process of starting a project.

The sixth authority of SEIAA Tamil Nadu consists of two Expert Appraisal Committees (SEAC-1 and SEAC-2), both headed by retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers serving as Chairpersons. Each SEAC comprises seven expert members from diverse fields. The State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) evaluates the environmental implications of proposed projects and provides technical recommendations.
